GOAL SETTING
What are goals?
- Goals are the point toward we direct our effort
- In other meaning,goals are things we want obtain,things we plan for as we chase a certain course of action.
- We can make our academic level to be more better by learning to set a goals for motivate us to do well and rise our chance to success in our future.
We should choose goals by our own.
- If parents,teachers or friends make goals for you,the chances to achieve the goals are low.
- We have to decide or select our own goals.
- We need to determine waht we want to achieve.We can be more motivated if we set our own goals to accomplish it.
Our goals have to be fairly chalengging.
- To set fairly chalengging goals is to see what we have achieve before.
- Goals can always be adjusted,if we learn we can accomplish more than we initially set out to achieve.
Goals have to be sensible.
- Determine about whether your goals are achieveable. For example: It would be unrealistic to expect to get a B or better in Calculus if your math background is very weak and your school grades in math were never higher than C.
- To create sensible goals,we must carefully figure out your possibility of accomplish each goals.
Goals have to be determinable
- A goals is determinable if you can know whether we accomplish it or not.
- It would be harder for us if we set our goals "to do well in a course".
- It would become clear to measure our goals if we target A or B in a course.
Goals have to be detail
- If our goals more detail,the more motiveted to us to achieve it.
- For example:Getting a B in College Algebra is a detail goal while getting a good grade in College Algebra is not
Our goals have to be limits
- Our goals need to have a finite time frame
- For example: If a paper is due by to Friday,you need to have it done by Friday. However,you might decide to have the paper done by Wednesday so that you can prepare for your big Biology exam on Friday.
- It's important to set due dates for each of your goals.
Confident to achieve your goals
- Bad goals statement have tendency to make we feel that we can't really succesful,they aren't motivating.
- Example:"I don't want to get any lower than a C in any of my classes" or " I won't go to dinner until I get this calculus work done"
- We will always do better if we working something with positive attitude
- Prevent using words like try ,think, and hope when we describe your goals.
Long-term goals and short-term goals
- Long-term goalsare the objectives we set for ourself for end of the fot the end of the year ,for four or five years from now, or for our lifetime.
- Short term goals can be set for an hour from now,for the end of the day,week,month or term(or semester).Example:Short -term goals include things like completing reading assignment,writing an essay ,getting B in a course,getting probation or making the Dean's List.
- See or our shortern goals as steps toward accomplish the long-term goals you have set for yourself.
Academic goals and personal goals
- Academic goals relate to your course work. This thing refer to preparing for exams,finished the assignments and present in class.
- Personal goals like active in clubs and sports,exercising and have new friends.
